Alternative Investment Funds
An Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) refers to a category of investment funds that pool capital from accredited investors to invest in ventures that do not fall under traditional investment options like stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. AIFs typically target higher-risk, higher-return ventures and include investments in private equity, hedge funds, real estate, commodities, and more.
AIFs are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and are typically available to high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and institutional investors who seek to diversify their portfolios into non-traditional assets.
